OPERATION HONOR (Helping Our Nation’s Own Rebuild) is KCPD’s specialized veterans advocacy initiative dedicated to military diversion, rehabilitation, and comprehensive support for veterans navigating the criminal justice system. Staffed by department’s military veterans, military family members, and professionals deeply committed to supporting our troops, the program combines specialized legal advocacy with a unique understanding of military service and its challenges.

Through a strong partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Justice Outreach and Community Reentry programs, along with other community partners, OPERATION HONOR successfully connected the overwhelming majority of eligible veterans in Kern County with diversion, treatment, and rehabilitative programs. This coordinated approach helped veterans access critical services, overcome barriers, and rebuild their lives with dignity, stability, and purpose.
